A Workshop for the Body

The body is a living artwork—a life’s work—and Body of Work is a different kind of workshop: a place for exploration and experimentation where the client is supported to develop their awareness of and connection with the body through movement. Nestled in the foothills of the South Downs, between farmers’ fields and woodland, the studio offers an intimate and relaxed space for this continually evolving work.

About Rebecca

Rebecca Sandell is a fully certified and insured Matwork and Reformer Pilates instructor. She is a member of the Body Control Pilates Association® and the Society for the Pilates Method®.

With degrees in English Literature and Eighteenth-Century Studies from King’s College London, Rebecca began her career in publishing. She first came to Pilates whilst recovering from surgery and fell in love with the practice, discovering within it a new, empowering way to connect with her body after an experience of illness. Wanting to explore that connection further, she decided to train as a teacher and enrolled with Body Control Pilates® in 2023.

Alongside her passion for books, Rebecca has an abiding interest in architecture and the visual arts as well as psychoanalysis, all of which inform her work with the body. A body, like a building, is always a work in progress. From this starting point, and guided by the belief that good movement is essential to wellbeing, Rebecca takes a whole person approach to teaching Pilates. Meanwhile, she continues to expand her qualifications with specialised training across the small and large equipment whilst deepening her understanding of movement and anatomy to best adapt her skills to the various needs of her clients.
